Pearl Care

A pearl is the world's most perfect gem. From the moment it comes out of the oyster it is a beautiful work of mother nature. Keep in mind that pearls are organic gems. Pearls are the most beautiful and feminine of all precious stones, but they are also the most delicate. They come from a living organism and as such extra care needs to be given to them.

Store you pearls in compartmentalized jewellery boxes so the metal clasps/parts of other jewellery doesn't scratch the pearl's surface. Wipe them with a damp cloth after wearing them as perspiration, perfume and other beauty products will dull their luster.

I recommend not putting on perfume in the area where your necklace or bracelet will be worn.

If you pearls come into contact with other substances, such as fruit juice, champagne, soup, whatever, immediately wipe that substance off.

Although pearls come from the sea, don't think it is safe to shower with your necklace on. Water will weaken the silk thread that is holding your necklace together and increase the probability of the thread breaking.

If you store your pearls in a safe deposit box or safe for long periods of time, remember to take your pearls out frequently as the lack of oxygen will cause the pearls to dehydrate.

Pearls can last generations. Every so often a famous pearl necklace or single pearl comes up for auction that is several hundred years old and belonged to an emperor or a raja or a member of royalty. If you take care of your pearls they should last for generations.

Valtospearls aims to please and won't  be undersold. Pearls are one of a kind gems.
Pearls are not considered sold until paid for. There are rare instances where a pearl listed for sale is in the middle of a transaction.
