My Pearl Collection

I am a pearl enthusiast and collector. One of the reasons I am showing my pearls is because I would like the work to see how special pearls are and to enjoy their beauty. My pearl collection is my most dedicated hobby and has been for many years. Its main value is sentimental although some of the pearls are worth quite a bit because they are quite rare in shape, size or color. I have a real problem saying no to buying a pearl that I really like. As a result I have a wide collection of pearls with no specialization other than the fact that they are South Sea and Tahitian pearls. Sometimes people do ask me the price on my certain pieces in my collection. I very rarely sell pearls from my collection - unless you offer me a crazy amount of money, then sure you can buy it.

When I first started collecting pearls, my friends thought it I was crazy. Over the years they have changed their view of me…now they think I am nuts. Sometimes they just don't understand why I collect. But to me pearls are special. Sometimes I am like Jack from the story from Jack and the Beanstalk. They are the only gem that comes from a living creature. They reflect the whims of Mother Nature. They are individualistic. They are unique. They are one of a kind. I just enjoy their beauty. I enjoy searching the world for them. I enjoy meeting pearl farmers and producers and hearing their stories.

One of my hopes in putting up my pearl collection on the internet is to reach out to other pearl collectors out there. Pearl can be enjoyed as a piece of art or a piece of jewellery or both. What is unique about my collection is that nearly all my pearls are unset, loose pearls. Their beauty is in their unique characteristics.
